God's will is not so much a what or a
where (what job or college, where to live, etc.), but a WHO (and I don't mean who am I going to marry). Whatever I'm doing, wherever I am, with WHOM
can I share the love of Christ? That shifts my focus from me and my
circumstances to those around me and the God who so loves the world
that He gave His Son to die for all that we who believe might live – a
God who is not willing that any should perish, but that ALL should
come to repentance. No exceptions. How shall they hear except we be
sent? Here I am, Lord – send me.
The what and where become secondary to
the who that He wants to use me to reach. (That is because what's and
where's are temporal. Who's are eternal.) His will may be in a place
of prosperity or in poverty or even in prison. God puts us wherever
to be a Light in the darkness, to bring hope to those who have no
hope, or a false hope. That is His purpose – always.
Who is in your life and what are you
doing about it? Are you ready to give an answer to anyone who asks
the reason for the hope that is in you.
If you are not ready, or if you do not
have a visible hope, He will put you in places to prepare you for
sharing His love and hope with others. Perhaps you are in that place of preparation
now. Understand that God puts you through the fires of testing to
purify you, to take out the dross that is keeping you from fulfilling
His purpose, His good will. He wants to give you as well as others a
“future and a hope” (Read Jeremiah 29:4-14). If you seek Him with
your whole heart, you will find Him.
