Ed and I and the “kids” are really
looking forward to moving into a new home. We're starting to
plan where we'll put things and I'm savoring filling up the many
drawers and cupboards in the kitchen and using a dishwasher for the
first time since our first apartment nearly 30 years ago. Ed is
getting to know the 5 chickens as he visits them every day. He's been
dropping seeds in “his” new garden with anticipation. We're
trying to keep from running over there to look things over, to get to
know every nook and cranny and and the “lay of the house and land.”
Hopefully, all this excitement will soon motivate me to get packing!
Today as I read Scripture portions in
my Daily Light devotional, I
was reminded of an even more exciting prospect: “The blessed hope
and glorious appearing of our great God and Saviour Jesus Christ” -
“the restoration of all things” - “the redemption of our body”
- to “be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is” - to “appear
with Him in glory.” WOW! That makes our new house look minuscule, a tiny step in a much bigger plan.
Even before I was able to transfer the
above from paper to screen, we were informed of a possible delay in
our plans for moving. We know that at any time God could completely
change our plans. And that's OK. We still have MUCH to look
forward to. That's why, like the apostle Paul, we can “press
on...reaching forward” as we “press toward the goal for the prize
of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” The move upward is a
done deal and will be worth the wait. Have you started packing for
eternity?
Appreciate your thoughts today, Dawn. I never thought of "the move upward" in quite this way before. Thanks!
